3 Things I’m Doing Differently As I Enter My 30s

I’ve officially entered my final week of my twenties. Turning 30 is a milestone that I’m somewhat conflicted about – being 30 just feels so much more adult than being 29, but I’ve heard that your thirties are largely a more stable and enjoyable decade than your twenties. As I’ve been moving towards the big 3-0, I’ve noticed that I get tired more easily, that I have small wrinkles that are starting to show, and I’ve been making some subtle (dare we call them anti-aging?) changes to my routine.


I’ve always been the kind of person who requires more sleep than others, but that fact has gotten more obvious as I’ve inched closer to 30. If I don’t prioritize sleep, I’m groggy, moody, and generally just don’t function as highly. I’ve been making a concerted effort both to sleep more and to improve the quality of my sleep over the past few months. I’ve invested in an aromatherapy diffuser and lavender essential oil, which creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere in my bedroom. I’ve started sleeping with an eye mask, since my room doesn’t really get 100 percent dark. And lastly, I’ve been trying to read before bed rather than watch tv, which seems to help me fall asleep faster.


I wasn’t always a healthy eater – my diet until my early 20s was largely carb-based, and it wasn’t really until I hit 25 or so that I started to be more conscious of what I was putting in my body. Warding off the effects of aging starts with what you’re eating, so I’ve tried to incorporate more superfoods into my diet – think blueberries, strawberries, and kale. I’ve also started taking a combination of three supplements for energy and skin and hair (read more about my supplement regimen in this post), and have made a concerted effort to up my water intake.


I was always a bit lazy about skincare. I may or may not have remembered to wash off my makeup before bed, and I never put a lot of thought into a skincare regimen. One of the biggest changes that I’ve made is sticking to a routine with my skincare and investing in quality eye cream.
