Exactly two years ago yesterday, Andrew and I embarked on the final leg of our journey South from Philadelphia and arrived in Florida. Our first place of residence in South Florida was temporarily in Boca Raton. I’ll never forget the dread and disappointment that I felt when we got off of 95 in Boca and I looked around at the outdated high rise apartment buildings and seemingly endless strip malls. This was where we were going to live?! Andrew picked up on my anxiety immediately, and insisted that I get back in the car. We drove ~20 minutes North to downtown Delray Beach, and I finally started to breathe easier. Happy hour was in full swing along the bustling Atlantic Avenue, just a few blocks from the beach. This “little” seaside town was much closer to what I had in mind when I agreed to move to Florida. Two years later, I’m still discovering new corners of our Village by the Sea, like Crane’s Beach House Boutique Hotel & Luxury Villas, where these pictures were taken. This lush, tropical hideaway is barely visible from the street, and feels straight out of Key West. As you sit at the island-style tiki bar, you’d never know you were only a few blocks from downtown Delray. For my brief escape from reality at Crane’s, I donned the cutest off-the-shoulder dress in the most perfect shade of moss green (can you believe it’s under $100?). Paired with a comfortable (but chic) pair of block heels, this is my ideal look for a tropical evening in paradise.
