In honor of celebrating our third wedding anniversary last week, Andrew and I spent a night at famed Palm Beach resortThe Breakers over the weekend. This is becoming something of a tradition for us, as my in-laws have gifted us a room there for a night for the past two years (read about last year’s visit here). This iconic resort which has been standing since 1904 is home to four pools, nine restaurants, and a half mile of private beach. Although it’s less than 30 minutes from our house, stepping onto the property truly feels like an escape.
We made the trek up to the island of Palm Beach on Saturday morning, arriving in time to spend an hour or so sunbathing before splitting a salad and delicious beef bulgogi tacos for lunch at Ocean House. After spending the rest of the afternoon in the sun, we ducked into the luxe Ocean Fitness center for a quick pre-dinner workout. Once we showered and got dressed, we set out to enjoy some more of the resort’s many amenities: a cheese plate at HMF, the resort’s grand lobby bar, followed by drinks at the Seafood Bar before we caught the shuttle to Echofor a sushi feast. After a solid ten hours of sleep in the hotel’s insanely comfortable beds, we got up on Sunday for another workout, brunch at The Beach Club Restaurant, and a few more hours of sunshine.
Andrew and I don’t get to spend as much time together as most married couples – between his hectic finance hours and both of our travel schedules, it’s a miracle if we even get to eat dinner together during a normal workweek. A staycation was just what we needed to relax, recharge, and spend some quality time together. I’m already counting the days until next year’s visit.
